"Reading is Being on the Road" project, one of our 11th season Changemakers, is being conducted with the efforts of Nusrettin Bicer and Abdulkadir Korkmaz in order to deliver books to the villages in Suruç, Şanlıurfa. In order to support this project that creates new hopes for children, Sabancı Group employees donated 1,000 books to the project with the contribution of 'Kitap Koala' on UNESCO World Literacy Day.

"Reading is Being on the Road" project, supported by Sabancı Group employees with 1,000 books, was initiated by classroom teachers Nusrettin Bicer and Abdulkadir Korkmaz, who were inspired by the story of Mustafa Güzelgöz known as the "Donkey Librarian", who brought books to villages on a back of donkey in the 1950s. Two teachers visiting the villages of Şanlıurfa by a second-hand minibus transformed into a mobile library, aim to make children gain the habit of reading books with their projects. The mobile library, which regularly visits 8 villages, brings children together not only with books, but also with activities such as puppets, science, and art workshops. Two teachers, who aim to reinforce reading habits of children by visiting the villages every other week and follow the development of the children, want to reach all the other schools in Suruç with the help of more volunteer teachers in the future.
