Wheelchair Dance Project

Wheelchair Dance Project was founded under the leadership of Banu Dağcıoğlu Türkeli, an artist of the State Opera and Ballet, with the support of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality in 2013. In this group that consists of individuals with physical disabilities, everybody is volunteer including trainers and musicians.

The implementers of the project act with the aim of contributing to a conscious society. They take to stage in every event that provides the necessary accessibility conditions. While the project aims to create an awareness in the audience, it also enables individuals with physical disabilities to meet with art.

Conservatory students between 12-18 also take part in this project. Thus, children work together with individuals with physical disabilities and by this mean it is aimed that new generations don't see wheelchair as an obstacle.

Wheelchair Dance Project makes individuals with disabilities meet with dance. It helps to the audience to break down their prejudices. It created a huge and unforgettable difference both in the lives of individuals with disabilities and the next generations.
