Daddy Tell Me a Story

Nurten Akkuş became the third Changemaker of the 7th season of Sabancı Foundation Turkey's Changemakers Program that shares "the extraordinary stories of unique people" who contribute to the social development.

Nurten Akkuş has been working as the manager of Ayvacık Central Kindergarten for 7 years. Within the scope of "Daddy, tell me a story" project, the first one written by Nurten Akkuş, she gave trainings to fathers whose children go to kindergarten. First, she started the project only with one parent and then involved dozens of fathers living in the neighborhood to the process. She gave them seminars on father-child relationship.

In the scope of the project, every father whose child goes to kindergarten comes to school at least once according to a certain agenda. Fathers tell stories to children, and then they present a theater play together.

Nurten Akkuş' "Daddy, tell me a story" project began to be implemented in 20 different cities across Turkey. With this project, hundreds of fathers received a training.

Nurten Akkuş set out believing that there can be a better future for kids. She integrated fathers and their children with an event, which seems very simple. She made a big difference in the world of fathers, as well as in the future of children.
