Öztürk Sarıca is a veterinarian who lives in Burdur. After losing his family members to cancer, he initiated a project around Lake Burdur in 2005 in order to both raise the awareness of people and preserve natural life. Its name is Lisinia Nature.
9 sub-projects are being carried out under the structure of Lisinia Nature. Some of these are informational activities with “A Future Without Cancer is in Our Hands”, lavender fields with “Keep Lake Burdur Alive to Live”, “Nature School”, “Protection of Native Plant-life and Animal Species”, “Gene Preservation”, “Ecological and Nature Friendly Agricultural Practices”. In addition, one of Turkey’s first wildlife rehabilitation centers is in Lisinia Nature. After the Center was established, it was handed over to the Ministry of Forest and Water Management at no cost.
Within the scope of the Lisinia project, plants indigenous to the region’s nature were started to be produced at the villages near Burdur. In this way, the local people were both introduced to new products and continuing to farm without disrupting the natural balance.
Many volunteers also contribute to the project at Lisinia Nature, a nature project that does not accept financial support or grants. Established under the leadership of veterinarian Öztürk Sarıca, Lisinia Nature has hosted over 120 thousand domestic and foreign visitors since its establishment.
Lisinia Nature was founded by Öztürk Sarıca for a better future. By realizing hundreds of projects on natural life, the natural balance of the region was protected. It made a huge difference in both the lives of the inhabitants of the region and the protection of ecological life.
