Hacı Ormanoğlu Empowers Children through After-School Programs
On 9 May 2010 Sabancı Foundation's "Turkey's Changemakers" program hosts Hacı Ormanoğlu, an elementary school teacher who established Rosebud Association to support children's social development through after-school programs.
Hacı Ormanoğlu is a teacher for 15 years, in a small town of Elazığ, a city in Eastern Turkey. He has devoted his life to his students through art, culture, exchange, and community project activities. He established the Rosebud Association in 2006 and organized reading campaigns, the "Healthy Teeth Campaign" and a Kite Festival. Rosebud Association has reached 4 thousand children so far.
Hacı Ormanoğlu created a Reading Room and Painting Areas for children with the furniture that was stored in the storage areas of the National Education Administration in Elazığ. He also gave speeches on "Preventing Violence in Schools" and "How to be a Model Teacher" in several schools and universities. Last but not least he published a book called "I Love Them So Much!"
