Ercan Tutal Makes a Difference in the Lives of People with Disabilities
On 18 October 2009 Sabancı Foundation's "Turkey's Changemakers" program hosts Ercan Tutal who runs camps and programs for persons with disabilities. In the camps, persons with disabilities learn how to scuba dive, and participate in all sorts of artistic and sports activities.
Having studied various institutions and projects in Europe, Tutal designed Turkey's first "Alternative Camp" for youth with disabilities. Camp participants take part in sports, drama, dance, photography and music courses, while also receiving support through life coaching.
Nominated to be an Ashoka Fellow, Ercan has always been keen to make a difference in the lives of persons with disabilities. For several years, Ercan has been running the "Alternative Camp" for youth with disabilities and is the first instructor who can teach the disabled to dive.
